Simon Njami is the curator of the Joburg Art Fair show, As you like it, which follows hot on the heels of the Johannesburg run of his Africa Remix show, arguably the greatest showing of African art since the second Johannesburg Biennale of 1997. From 2001 to 2003 he was artistic director of the group Rencontres de la Photographie Africaine. The Cameroon-born, Paris-based founding editor of seminal journal Revue Noire, he has been described as 'Europe's reigning monarch of Afro-hip' and also recently co-curated the Africa Pavilion at last year's Venice Biennale. He is also a widely published author, with his name behind such titles as Coffin and Co, Flash Afrique! Photography from West Africa, Black Paris: The African Writer's Landscape and Looking Both Ways.
